Mascot Usage
The Valencia College logo is tried and true and with a mascot in place, you have a few options for how you brand materials. While the official mascot of Valencia College is the Puma, the mascot character is Purrcy the VC Puma. So, the fuzzy cat is named “Purrcy” and the sleek Puma silhouette is the “Mascot Mark” or the “Mascot Signature.”

Purrcy characterizes the culture and lifestyle of Valencia College. Purrcy embodies the spirit of Valencia College and our students—vibrant, friendly and upbeat. Whether in illustrated or animated form, or in “purrson,” Purrcy is fun and inspirational…so much so that the Purrcy image is in demand for all types of materials. Use the chart below to determine the appropriate option for your needs.

When it’s appropriate to use the Purrcy photograph or illustration, here are things to remember:
- This cat is too cool to be used for authoritative messages. For instance, Purrcy can ask or encourage students to take a certain action, but they won’t tell them to do it or threaten repercussions. “Finals are on the way. Study up, y’all!”
- Thanks, but no thanks to any hats, clothes, flags, swag or any other accessory you may want to add to Purrcy. Don’t alter Purrcy illustrations, okay?
- Let’s make sure Purrcy looks consistently awesome…and awesomely consistent. That means the character only appears as a photograph, or in illustrated form using ONLY illustrations provided by the Marketing Department. Put down your pens, potential Purrcy portraitists—we’ve got this.
- Purrcy takes a great picture and is awesome in illustrated form. Our mascot mark and signature are terrific, too. Remember, these items are not interchangeable and they never appear together. Think of them as Batman and Bruce Wayne.
